"Sunday Morning" 11"x14" Oil

Every so often while working on location I am challenged to the point where it doesn't seem possible to capture what I am seeing. When the light is changing so fast, I do my best to commit information to memory and while painting, remember the light and color the way it appeared five, ten and twenty minutes before. Then, if possible, paint accordingly. This is another painting that will be on display in Huntington Beach.

"A Golden Summer Evening" 6"x8" Oil on linen panel

This is a study for a larger painting. Cottonwoods are another wonderful tree to paint especially when there is a warm light cast upon them from a setting sun. This location is in the town of Bishop, California.

Untitled 18"x24" Oil

This painting has just been completed. I painted a small study last week to help with color and composition. Aspen trees are certainly among my favorite to paint. I hope to revisit this family of trees in October and if I time it correctly, they will be dressed in their Fall gold. Either way they will be elegant.

Contact me if interested in this piece.

"The Last Rays" 5"x7" Oil

I love aspen trees. This group of aspens is located in a large meadow off Hwy 395 in the eastern sierras. I have noticed it in the past but it was this past summer that I realized how it could work as a painting. This is a small study before I go to a large canvas.

"Distant Thunder On The Greenbelt" 11x14 Oil

We have had some wonderful clouds form over the mountains this past week and today was no exception. I blew off my plans to paint in the studio this afternoon and I am happy I did.

This was painted in about two and one half hours as are most of my plein air pieces. I painted it on location on the local jogging/walking path that runs through town also know as the "Greenbelt." Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments regarding this or any other paintings.
