"On The Easel" 20x16 Oil

Hi Folks- This is what I am currently working on. I am pleased with its progress so far. After I make a few more adjustments and changes, I will set it aside and begin a new piece. It will be good to begin a new painting so that I can then revisit this one with a fresh perspective and then perhaps make more adjustments later if necessary.

"The View Towards Big Pine" 7x5 Oil

One of my favorite things to do besides painting is to shoot photos for reference material. If time allowed, I would prefer to paint a scene on location because the information I gather while painting is much more valuable to me than any photograph could ever capture. Either way, it is invigorating to be outdoors among all of the elements that feed my soul. It is certainly the best way I know to recharge my batteries before heading back to the studio. This painting is from a photo I recently shot while in Bishop, California. It is a scene looking south from Bishop towards Big Pine.

"Currently On The Easel" 18x24 Oil

This has been my latest large piece that I have been working on for the past week or so. It is a Pacific sunset after a recent storm. I know it is time to set it aside and begin something new when I realize that I become distracted by the dog barking or the grass growing or a bird flying over. I will put it on another easel so I can give it a chance to sit and marinate for awhile while I begin something new. This will allow me to see it with fresh eyes and then decide on some possible finishing touches. Happy New Year. I hope you are all well.
This painting has been finished and is available as of 9-13-10.
1600. unframed. Please see post on April 7, 2010.
