"Morning In The Eastern Sierras" 5x7 Oil

I have had my mind on this scene for quite some time. Impatience got the better of me so I completed this small piece as a study for a large pastel.
I changed my signature. Why? I wish I could say it is a turning point or watershed moment in my career but it is nothing so lofty. I like being able to actually look at and read the artists name on a painting. Up until this point for quite a few years, my signature has been pretty much the same. It's not that it was bad, it just was not legible to folks who don't know me or my work. It is fairly simple now but I like it and think it will stay.

"Early Morning Sun" 11x14 Pastel

This was my painting demonstration given at the Brea gallery last weekend as part of the ongoing I.A.P.S. Exhibit. Each Saturday during the exhibit, an artist from the Southern California Pastel Society will be giving a demonstration for the public. This exhibit in my opinion represents the highest quality that pastels can produce. A show like this is an education for those who have not seen a pastel exhibit. It was a reminder for me of what an amazing medium pastel is.
