After getting up this morning I changed my plans from working in the studio to going down to the beach. It was a good decision and another fine morning spent at the water's edge.

This morning my studio was the beach. It has been a while since I've worked on location and I have missed it. The bonus was being able to meet and converse with some folks I've never met as well as some I've known for quite some time. I need to get out of the studio much more often. It was a very good day.

"An Evening In May" 5x8 Pastel
I guess I am doing a bit of Spring cleaning of sorts these days. I have been working to finish pieces that have been trying to get my attention for the better part of a year or so. This little guy is one such painting. It has been moved around from the book shelf to the wall back to the book shelf again. It was a color study for another painting at one time. I have enjoyed looking at it knowing that I would eventually get around to putting on the finishing touches. It represents the evening light at the coast here in Southern California.

"Remembering Sonoma" 16x20 Oil Revised
Although this painting was "finished" and posted some time ago, it needed a few minor changes. I like holding on to work just for this reason. I think it is necessary to have some time for adjustments and new ideas to occur. Another cloud here or a bit more purple there. Sometimes it makes all the difference. In this case the changes were minor but necessary.
