Convict Lake After The Rain 6x8 Oil

I spent last Saturday afternoon painting at Convict Lake in the Eastern High Sierras. The first half hour was spent standing in the rain hoping that the clouds would pass over and the sun would come out. My patience was rewarded. The rain stopped and the sun broke through the clouds lighting up the changing aspen trees. My timing was good or perhaps it wasn't my timing at all.

"Autumn Burning" 5x7 Oil

Last week I spent a few days in the eastern sierras painting and photographing. I painted this scene last Friday afternoon. The local rancher was burning large piles of branches which continued to burn well into the afternoon. I wish I could impart the smell of autumn that was in the air but hopefully the idea comes across.

"Columbus Day Morning Surf" 5x7 Oil by Joe Mancuso

This was the scene this morning down at the beach. The fog was clearing and there was an offshore breeze. Waves were lining up to catch the first light of the day.

"Approaching Mammoth Lakes" 12x24 Oil

This scene is one that I have been working on for a couple of weeks. It is highway 395 as you are nearing the town of Mammoth Lakes. No doubt this view is familiar to many friends and family members as well as a gazillian skiers and campers. Speaking for myself, it always brings up feelings of arriving home.
This painting is 1400.
