One of my favorite places to explore for new paintings is Foxen Canyon Rd. between Los Olivos and Santa Maria in Santa Barbara County. This scene is how I imagine old California might have looked and can still be discovered today.

 Where I live, there are not many dramatic changes in weather or scenery from season to season. At least not like areas that get more obvious changes in temperature, weather and colors as seasons change. I travel to different locations to experience this. When I am home, I appreciate the changes just the same and seek them out however subtle they may be. If I am paying attention and sensitive to them, much more is always revealed.
