"The End OF October" 18x24 Pastel

This is the second of 2 pieces to be juried for the I.A.P.S show. I have never participated in this show before but whether or not my work is juried in, it will be a very beautiful show to attend with the standard of quality very high. This years show takes place at The City Of Brea Art Gallery in the City of Brea here in southern California. There are roughly 63 or more pastel societies that are all part of the International Association Pastel Societies. I am a member of three of these.

"Evening In El Porto" 16x20 Pastel

I spent three days last week going through old photos and slides. I have been wanting to do this for some time just to see what I have. I found some wonderful photos that i had forgotten about and it reminded me of some good times and fun trips taken with family and friends. I think I have improved a little bit as a photographer as well. Who am I kidding, theres lots of room for improvement.

After going through books of slides and disks of digital photos, I stopped on a few of the local breakwaters in the area. I am always attracted to light and color. No surprise here, but this particular scene needed to be restated. I have painted smaller scenes that are similar but not in pastel. This piece was submitted to be juried into a national pastel show. Once again, fingers are crossed.

This painting was actually finished and photographed and even had a title. I then decided it needed a few changes so I added few things and then a new title came to me while I was photographing it for this post. Sometimes things just go that way. It's not always in my plan but I need to be open to new possibilities whenever they come.

"The Carson River" 9x12 Oil

This painting was a demonstration conducted last Saturday at Marina Fine Arts in Marina del Rey, California. I met lots of nice people and even got lunch too. It was a fun day. Thank you Mike and Joan.
